CROWN POINT, Ind., March 12, 2025 — GuideStar Eldercare has announced the launch of a new clinical program to support individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) residing in post-acute and long-term care settings. The TBI program delivers integrated neuro-psychiatric care focused on improving functionality, safety, and quality of life.

This new program adopts a neurology-forward philosophy that recognizes behavioral and affective changes following TBI as manifestations of underlying neurological processes rather than primary psychiatric disorders. The program helps to identify and treat root neurological drivers and secondary behavioral symptoms, enabling more precise care for complex neurobehavioral conditions. Local, on-site providers collaborate with facility staff and have direct access to board-certified experts, including neurologists and physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physicians, ensuring consistent oversight and specialized expertise.

“Individuals with traumatic brain injury experience behavioral and emotional challenges that are neurological in origin but frequently misunderstood in traditional care models,” said Dr. Steven Posar, Founder, Chief Medical Officer, and Executive Chairman of GuideStar Eldercare. “By bringing a neurology-forward approach, we can help patients achieve greater stability and functionality, while giving facilities the clinical expertise and support needed to manage complex neurobehavioral conditions with confidence.”

Designed specifically for post-acute and long-term care environments, the TBI Program integrates with rehabilitation teams, nursing leadership, and medical providers to support safer care settings and improved functional outcomes for individuals recovering from neurological injury.
